We might not be a good fit if you're one of the four.

Hey, |
People come to us from completely different places. Here are the four kinds of news consumers I see most. |
You read everything. |
Two or three papers, a stack of newsletters, and you still feel like you're missing something. You are, and it isn't your fault. Nobody has the time to read everything and cross-check it against itself. |
We fill in the gaps and put things in front of you that you may have missed. That's what our full-access Daily Brief is amazing for. |
You check in when something's happening. |
You're not a daily news person, and you don't want to be. But when something big breaks, you want the real story instead of whatever your feed decided to hand you, and you don't want to spend an hour piecing it together from six contradictory headlines. |
I love this kind of reader because it's a great way to be. They don't obsess over the news, but sometimes they look into specific stories. |
Our Daily Brief is great for them too. They can check in when they want, and it doesn't have to be every day. You don't have to feel guilty for missing some days. |
You listen more than you read. |
Podcasts in the car, videos at night, cable on in the background. Confession: I do this too. It works, but it's slow. It takes two or three hours to get what you could have had in five minutes. I never feel like it was worth my time. |
My thoughts: Keep the podcasts. |
But add the full edition of our Daily Brief because it gets you the facts fast. And as a paid member, you get our daily audio version of the newsletter, too. |
Here's who we're not for. |
If you use the news to get that dopamine spike, we're the wrong outlet. |
There's a whole industry built for that, and it's very good at its job. Every story is pitched to spike your blood pressure. There’s nothing you can actually do about any of it. And a fresh outrage is waiting tomorrow, so the feeling never quite resolves. |
We'll tell you what happened and why it matters, and some days that's infuriating all on its own. We won't soften that. But we won't manufacture it either. |
Most of our members are one of the first three. A few came in as the fourth and changed their minds along the way. |
Whichever one you are, join us. |
|
|
Right now you're on the free plan, which means what lands in your inbox is a limited version of our daily coverage — the one that leaves out our best insights, our media fact-checks, the context behind the headline, and the stories nobody else is running. |
Members tell us the full brief makes them sharper, calmer, and more informed in about five minutes a day. |
