Dear Friends,

Some of what I’m about to share breaks my heart. It’s really hard to believe—but it’s real.

In India, millions of children are sold into slavery—more than in every other country in the world combined.

The typical scenario unfolds like this: A man approaches a poor family with an “opportunity” to borrow money. The family is in desperate need, so they accept the loan, thinking it will help them get by. But the contract they sign—which they usually can’t even read—states that if the loan isn’t repaid (with heavy interest), the lender can take their child or children as payment.

Most families have no realistic way to repay even a small loan—often just $65—and so a child is taken. That child might be as young as 6 years old, though the average age is 10–12. They are then sold as slaves to work in mines, brick kilns, wealthy households, or even as sex slaves.

Some children are literally worked to death. When that happens, their organs are harvested and sold to wealthy families.

This is happening every day, every hour, to children in poor communities across India. The government often turns a blind eye, and some officials are simply paid off. These abducted children are from the “untouchables” communities.

So what can we do?

God has led us to partner with an incredible ministry called Set Free Alliance. They work right there in India, rescuing children from the slave trade. To date, they have rescued over 100,000 children!

When they saw our materials—especially The Real Story of Jesus coloring books—they reached out and asked if we could provide them in the Telugu language. Of course, we said immediately said YES!

To date, we have delivered 20,000 sets of The Real Story of Jesus illustrated storybook, coloring book, and colored pencils. Each set has gone directly to a child rescued from the slave trade.

At first, I didn’t fully grasp the impact something as simple as a coloring book could have. But when a child is rescued, they are often extremely reserved. They don’t trust adults. The coloring books become a gentle way to help them open up—while discovering that they are loved, truly loved by Jesus.

Deepak is a 13-year-old boy who was rescued from the slave trade. He says:

“I was doing heavy work like carrying coal and stones. The air was full of dust and I was always coughing. I never felt safe. Then one day a pastor came and rescued me. They brought me to his home and his family cared for me.

“The iBIBLE book changed my heart. When I saw Jesus helping poor and suffering people, I felt Jesus understands my pain. When I colored, I thought about Jesus and I felt peace. I thank Jesus for saving me from the mines and giving me a new life. I want to thank those who sent these books. iBIBLE helped me have hope.”

And one of the pastors who rescues and cares for these children writes:

“When the rescued children first arrive, they are very silent and fearful. Some do not trust adults, and some cannot sleep. When we received The Real Story of Jesus books, it became a strong support for our ministry. Many children cannot read properly, but the pictures speak to their hearts. Through the books they learn Jesus is a loving Savior Who cares for them.

“Every day we sit and read the book together. The children remember the stories and the coloring helps calm the children down. I have personally witnessed change in the children. But today I’m praying we can print at least another 5,000 sets—that’s the minimum we can print at a time.
