Saturday's slate of spring games delivered plenty of early intrigue heading into fall camp. Quarterback battles at Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee drew the most attention, but skill position players and defensive standouts stole some headlines, too. Pete Nakos breaks down some of the performances that turned heads.
Florida QB Tramell Jones Jr.: Florida head coach Jon Sumrall isn't naming a starter anytime soon, but Tramell Jones Jr. made a strong case Saturday. Jones finished 13-17 for 210 yards, threw a 75-yard touchdown to Eric Singleton, and wasn't sacked once. With two passing touchdowns and no turnovers, he outperformed the competition on the day.
Tennessee CB Kayin Lee: One of Tennessee's top portal additions this offseason, Auburn transfer Kayin Lee looked the part at Neyland Stadium. He was consistently disruptive in man coverage and delivered a couple of big hits. Lee is emerging as a shutdown corner and figures to be a centerpiece of Jim Knowles' inaugural Tennessee defense.
Mississippi State QB KaMario Taylor: Miss State didn't hold a formal scrimmage, but Taylor made his presence felt, throwing two touchdowns in a limited showing. Now in his second year with the Bulldogs, Taylor looks poised to be a key piece of Jeff Lebby's offense heading into the fall.
Nakos broke down plenty more from Saturday's spring games, including Alabama's Keelon Russell turning heads at A-Day, Florida WR Micah Mays' standout performance, and the Syracuse defense's big day.
